Assistant Merchandiser Womenswear

Key Objective

The objective of this role is to support the Merchandising team on Womenswear to maximise opportunities through the effective management of stock, driving sales through improved availability and forecasting and reducing markdown and maximizing profit.


Main Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provide weekly summary of key performance indicators within the Womenswear department, relating to sales, stock, profit, and markdown versus budget and last year
  • Key contact for all analysis relating to the Womenswear department
  • Manage intake through weekly Critical Path meetings and take appropriate actions
  • Work with the Allocators to control stock levels, allocations and reviewing replenishment parameters to potentialise sales
  • Provide analysis and summary of Markdown activity
  • Responsible for ensuring that Markdowns are actioned on the system
  • Conduct detailed ad-hoc analysis when required on specific products/product groups
  • Liaising with buying colleagues, DC, stores and the wider business (e.g Marketing)
  • Creating and sending purchase orders to suppliers



  • Regularly updating and reviewing the departments attribute analysis and best & worst
  • Provide historical analysis to develop the department strategy and support the range building process
  • Provide recommendations from the key findings to contribute to the departments planning
  • Review sales at SKU level to plan optimum size mix’s based on style level performance
  • Be involved in the sign off process with directors


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in retail merchandising preferable (at least 12 months)
  • Planning and analytical skills, including computer skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good judgement and decision making skills
  • Proactive and drives own development
  • Commercially aware with a strong understanding of the customer and brand awareness
  • Professional and well spoken, with excellent communication skills
